It can be helpful to gather information about the supports you need when preparing for your NDIS planning meeting.

We can help you gather this information if you are a current client of one of our services. Please contact us for help:

We can’t provide specific information if you’re not a current patient of our fee for service areas, or if you’re on a waiting list.

The following general information might be useful when preparing for your NDIS planning meeting.

  1. Have a think about what standard nursing care (related to your disability) you’ll need over the next 12 months, or period of your plan. Common types of nursing care include:
    1. continence support
    2. enteral feeding support
    3. ongoing or recurring wound or pressure care.
  2. Once you’ve identified the type of nursing care you need, estimate how many hours of care you need to be funded.
    1. As a general guide, you should allow for one hour of nurse time per visit. In most cases, this should be enough to cover face to face care, as well as things like travel time and paperwork.
    2. If you need more than one nurse to attend at a time for work, health and safety reasons, include the hours of care needed per nurse, not per visit. For example, in most cases a visit with two nurses would need two hours’ of funding.
  3. Identify any consumables you need to be built into your plan, for example, single-use disposable urinary catheters.
  4. If you need expert nurse input or advice regarding your care, identify this in addition to your standard nursing care. We have nurses with expertise in wound care, continence management, home enteral feeding, and complex care.
    1. For a general assessment and follow up in any of these categories, an average of 5 hours is likely to need to be needed – more for more complex cases.
