Canberra Hospital is a tertiary referral teaching hospital and our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is recognised for intensive care training.
Our ICU cares for a population of nearly 500 000 people from the ACT and surrounding NSW region and employs more than 230 medical and nursing staff.
We provide comprehensive critical care, including complex multi-system life support for an indefinite period, to more than 2200 patients each year.
Our facility is a 39-bed unit that has five fully vented positive/negative pressure isolation rooms, as well as a new 8-bed wing with capacity for full negative pressure isolation.
We provide an extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) service, with referral links to the NSW ECMO network.
