Junior medical positions - eligibility overview

The following eligibility criteria apply to junior medical roles at CHS. Applicants must meet the relevant registration, experience, and work rights requirements at the time of commencement.

Core requirements (all roles)

Registration

All applicants must meet Medical Board of Australia registration requirements.

Registration eligibility and conditions

For Australian and New Zealand medical graduates:

  • Provisional registration
  • General registration

For International Medical Graduates (IMGs):

  • Limited registration
  • Provisional registration
  • General registration

Registration renewal and timing

  1. General registration and specialist registration expire on 30 September each year. See the AHPRA registration renewal page for details.
  2. Provisional or limited registration expires on the anniversary of 12 months from the date when registration was first granted. Check the AHPRA public register to confirm your registration details if you are unsure of your registration expiry date.

International Medical Graduates

We welcome applications from overseas medical practitioners. Please note that applicants are responsible for ensuring they hold the appropriate visa and current medical registration at the time of employment.
