Our fracture clinic reviews and manages newly identified fractures.
About this service
Our Fracture Clinic is available for patients who have recently fractured a bone. At the clinic, your fracture will be reviewed and/or managed by an Orthopaedic Registrar.
If your fracture requires urgent assessment, you will be offered an appointment with the Registrar Review Clinic.
Who we care for
Our services are available for people aged 14 years and over who are referred by their GP, via an Emergency Department, Walk-in Centre or another medical specialist.
Children are seen by the paediatric fracture clinic and/or the Registrar Review Clinic depending on how their fracture is triaged.
For paediatric fracture enquiries please contact (02) 5124 7550.
How to access this service
Your GP, a Walk-in Centre nurse or Emergency Department will send us a referral on your behalf. You cannot refer yourself to the fracture clinic.
We will contact you with your appointment details after we’ve triaged your referral.
What to expect
The wait list is actively managed to ensure you are treated within appropriate clinical timeframes based on the urgency of your needs.
You will be told of your appointment time on the day of discharge or contacted by our bookings staff. If you do not hear anything within 3 days, please call Central Health Intake on (02) 5124 2415.
On the day of your appointment, you will be seen by the doctor in order of appointment time.
It is possible that the doctors may need to order an X-ray to check that your bone is healing correctly. If needed, we will arrange for you to have your X-ray at the hospital, at the time of your appointment.
If you need surgery, we will involve an orthopaedic surgeon.
What to bring to your appointment

- Medicines you need to take while you are here
- List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have bought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
