Our Registrar Review Clinic is for patients that need to be seen by a registrar - a doctor that has specialised knowledge about certain areas of the body.

About this service

Our Registrar Review Clinic has four specialist teams:

  • plastics
  • orthopaedics
  • maxillofacial
  • ear, nose and throat (ENT).

Our plastics team look after:

  • repair of damaged tissues
  • hand surgery, including fractures
  • repair of facial injuries
  • burns.

Our orthopaedics team review and manage newly identified fractured bones.

Our maxillofacial team look after conditions and injuries of the mouth, face and jaw.

Our ear, nose and throat team look after conditions and injuries to the ears, nose and throat.

Who we care for

We care for people of all ages with new or urgent conditions.

We can arrange for a registrar to see you in a different clinic, or a more suitable environment if you:

  • have trouble caring for yourself
  • are medically unstable
  • are vomiting
  • or experiencing an acute mental health episode.

Services are free to those with a Medicare card.

How to access this service

You need a referral from your General Practitioner, specialist or an emergency department to access this service. You cannot refer yourself.

The process of getting an appointment in the Registrar Review Clinic is:

  • Your referring doctor will speak to the speciality registrar and ask them to agree to see you, before sending us a referral.
  • Our registrars will triage the referral to decide how urgently you need an appointment and which is the most suitable clinic for you.

We will then contact you with an appointment time.

What to expect

We receive a large volume of referrals.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Medicare card
  • Any letters or correspondence from your General Practitioner
  • Health Care Card and/or concession card (if you have one)
  • Private health insurance card (if applicable/if you want to use it) if you are not covered by Medicare
  • Medicines you need to take while you are here
  • List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have bought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
  • Previous x-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
  • Your child’s personal health record (Blue Book)
