The resource officer report directly to the Resource Manager Perioperative Unit and joins the resource team. This position is responsible at an operational level for the coordination and management of supplies required within Perioperative Services.

The resource officer reports directly to the Resource Manager Perioperative Unit and joins the resource team. This position is responsible at an operational level for the coordination and management of supplies required within Perioperative Services.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Coordinate and manage the daily provision of instruments and supplies required for the delivery of services at an operational level within Perioperative Services.
  • Display interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of health professionals and allied health agencies including nursing staff, medical staff, industry representatives, other hospitals, CHS sterilizing Services, CHS supply Services etc.
  • Participate in procurement processes at an operational level within Perioperative Services under the supervision of the Resource Manager, and ADON Perioperative Services.
  • Coordinate the application of quality control measures pertaining to the legislation and guidelines surrounding the transport, recall of stock, and storage and handling of sterile supplies and equipment within Perioperative Services.
  • Responsible for staff training around resource management.
  • Utilize a wide range of digital resource tools to communicate and manage resource tasks.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications

Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

  • Tertiary Qualification or related qualification
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Prior experience in similar role will be highly desirable
  • Understanding of inventory management
  • Knowledge of AS5369:2023- “Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and other devices in health and Non-health related facilities”

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:

  4. Demonstrate an ability to effectively evaluate elective and non-elective surgical schedules and coordinate resources for the provision of safe patient care.
  5. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work Health and Safety and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful, and kind.
