Position overview
The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve exceptional health care in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Under limited direction of your manager, you will perform duties as a Registered Nurse Level 1 in an acute care service. You will:
- Provide patient centred care within an ethical and professional framework.
- Practice in accordance with the relevant legislation
- Practice in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs & rights of individuals & or groups.
- Advocate for individuals & or groups & their rights for nursing care within the organisational & management structure
- Understands & practices within own scope of practice.
- Integrates nursing & health care knowledge, skills & attitudes to provide safe & effective nursing care.
- Integrates organisational policy & guidelines with professional standards.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation

- Ability to prioritise, work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet clients’ needs.
- High level communication skills and the ability to think critically.
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant Tertiary Nursing qualifications.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Desirable
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Experience
Essential
- Available to work full rotating roster including night duty
Desirable
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:
- Pre-employment National Police Check.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
