We offer both individual and group sessions.
We work closely with medical, nursing and other allied health staff to assist in maximising your wellbeing and to aid recovery.
Who we care for
We care for people admitted to North Canberra Hospital, Clare Holland House and in Home Based Palliative Care. We also provide a service for non-admitted patients who meet the eligibility criteria.
Please note the Inpatient Physiotherapy Service does not provide outpatient or community-based physiotherapy services. You may like to consider:

How to access this service
Your hospital care team will refer you to our service.
What to expect
Our inpatient physiotherapy team can help with managing:
- acute musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures
- managing lung/respiratory conditions
- using walking aids, splints and collars
- prescribing appropriate exercises
- functional retraining, for example getting in and out of bed and walking.
At North Canberra Hospital, physiotherapy may be provided to patients from:
- the emergency department
- acute inpatients
- maternity
- palliative care
- Hospital in the Home as part of the continuum of care
- acute rehabilitation
We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm.
