When we book your surgery date, we will call you with all the information you need.
We will talk to you about where to go, when to begin fasting from food and fluids fast and what to bring. If you don’t answer the call, we will leave a message. Please make sure you call us back as soon as possible, otherwise you may need to be rebooked for a later date. We will usually give you around 3 weeks’ notice.
Fasting
Your care team will give you information about when you need to stop eating and drinking before your test, procedure or surgery.
We will also send you a letter with all the information. If you haven’t spoken with us over the phone, make sure you call us to let us know that you have received your surgery date information and understand what you need to do next.
If you are offered a date for your surgery and you decline on two different occasions, you will be removed from the waiting list, unless you have circumstances that require you to be postponed, such as a health condition. It is really important to let us know if you are unwell in the lead up to your surgery as you may not be fit enough to have an anaesthetic.
