Day surgery
If you are coming for day surgery you will need to arrange to have someone pick you up after your operation. You cannot drive for up to 24 hours after having anaesthetic. Only bring what you will need for the day, such as comfortable easy to put on non-slip shoes and socks, clean underwear and clothing that will be easy for you to slip on after your surgery. Leave your jewellery at home.
Staying overnight
Remember to pack all the items you will need during your stay. We have a suggested list of what to bring, including comfortable clothes and toiletry items.
Paediatric surgery
If you are bringing your child for surgery make sure the parent or carer who signed the consent paperwork is present at the surgical admission. We have some suggestions on what to pack and how to prepare your child for surgery in our bringing your child to hospital section.
