We monitor the long-term growth and development of babies at risk who have required Neonatal Intensive Care.
About this service
Our NICU Growth and Development Follow-up Clinic monitors the long-term growth and development of babies at risk who have required Neonatal Intensive Care.
We are a multidisciplinary team that includes physiotherapists, nurses and doctors.
Our clinic is an opportunity for parents of babies at risk to discuss clinical issues, growth and developmental progress with us.
We also reassure parents, answers questions and assist with problems relating to your baby’s growth and development.
Our clinic complements the care provided by other health professionals involved in your baby’s care, such as paediatricians or general practitioners.
Who we care for
We care for babies at risk who have received intensive care.
We typically see babies at 8 months, 12 months and 24 months (of corrected gestational age) if they:
- were born at term (37-40 weeks of gestational age) and are at risk
- were born between 30 and 37 weeks of gestational age and are at risk
- were born prematurely at less than 30 weeks of gestational age or weighed under 1000 grams at birth
This clinic is free if you have a Medicare Card or an Asylum Seeker Card.
