The Nutrition Department at North Canberra Hospital aims to meet the nutritional needs of inpatients.
About this service
We aim to improve your wellbeing, recovery and prevent malnutrition while providing nutrition care that adapts to your individual needs and preferences.
Please note: we do not provide education for pre-existing diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, gallbladder disease, overweight/obesity, healthy eating advice or vegetarian diet advice. You may like to consider:

What to expect
Our Accredited Practising Dietitians work within a multidisciplinary team to develop individual nutrition care plans. We support inpatients who need medical nutrition therapy including:
- Nutritional assessment
- Oral nutrition support
- Education on therapeutic diets
- Enteral nutrition and Parenteral nutrition
- Medicare card
- Any letters or correspondence from your GP
- Medicines you need to take while you are here
- List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have brought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
- Previous x-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
What to bring to your appointment
- Medicare card
- Any letters or correspondence from your GP
- Medicines you need to take while you are here
- List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have brought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
