Position overview
This position provides design services for clinical projects to ensure the effective communication and promotion of clinical information, research and clinical tools. You will do this using your skills as a graphic designer to produce work that meets branding and accessibility guidelines, and client needs.
CHS Library and Multimedia is a client focused unit providing essential library and multimedia services to CHS and ACT Health and Community Services Directorate staff. Our services ensure that staff have access to evidenced-based, authoritative and up-to-date resources to support their clinical, research and policy work, and they have the training and support to use these resources effectively. Our Multimedia service provides clinical graphic design and printing support to create professional publications.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Multimedia and working under limited direction, you will provide clinical graphic design services to CHS and ACTHCSD clients. You will:
- Undertake complex design work on clinical posters, publications and tools.
- Design multimedia artifacts from concept to final product in print and digital formats in collaboration with clients to meet CHS branding and accessibility guidelines.
- Interpret supplied content and provide professional guidance on design briefs, liaising with and providing feedback to clients.
- Undertake associated print production and administrative work including quoting and approvals. Produce promotional material for the unit and support the online content for Multimedia services.
- Assist in providing technical and professional guidance to team members to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality design and production services.
- Support video production activities.
- Represent the work of the unit to internal stakeholders including in promotional activities.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in graphic design or multimedia
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel)
Desirable
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a design, multimedia or related industry.
Desirable
- Prior experience working in a government or healthcare setting.
- Experience in a print production environment and video production would be advantageous.
- Experience in website content management
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, and all other related frameworks.

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:

Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.

- Demonstrated experience in interpreting creative briefs, analysing data and communicating information in a way that is easy to understand and audience appropriate through producing artwork from concept to final product in line with accessibility standards, corporate branding, style requirements and with a sound knowledge of the technical requirements for print and digital artwork.
- Demonstrated well-developed communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in communications and marketing. Demonstrated client liaison skills including effectively presenting draft designs, incorporating feedback and effectively communicating design parameters.
- Demonstrated ability to manage work priorities in a busy environment including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work positively and collaboratively within a team to support team and organisational goals, including the ability to provide technical and professional guidance to team members.
