You might have an illness that could spread to other people. To help stop the spread of germs, we might put you in a room by yourself or put you in a room with another person with the same illness. This is called being in isolation.
When you are in isolation we may wear a gown and gloves when caring for you. We may also ask you to wear a mask when you leave your bed, for example, when you leave your room for an x-ray or to use the bathroom. You may hear us refer to ‘PPE’, or ‘personal protective equipment’. This includes masks, gown and gloves.
