In a life threatening emergency dial Triple Zero (000)

It’s important that you tell us if you, or the person you are visiting, is getting sicker.

It may be that something is ‘not quite right’. This might be a change in how you feel, look or behave. A family member or carer may notice these types of changes before it is obvious to us.

Getting sicker might include, but is not limited to:

  • finding it harder to breathe than normal
  • feeling like your heart is racing
  • feeling dizzy or lightheaded
  • new or worse confusion
  • pain that is worse despite medication
  • any new symptoms.

If you are getting sicker you should:

  1. Press your nurse call bell and tell your nurse why you’re worried.
  2. If you are still worried, ask to speak with the nurse in charge. If you are in a waiting area, please speak to the triage nurse.

If you have concerns after speaking with the staff caring for you, it's okay to ask to talk with a senior nurse or doctor.
