We treat people with complex infections for which GPs or other specialists need assistance. We also see people with undiagnosed illnesses accompanied by high fevers.
About this service
We see patients with infections admitted under other units (for example, orthopaedic surgery, Hospital in the Home, cardiology) who require our help regarding their diagnosis and treatment. This is the largest part of our service.
We also have a smaller service for patients with complex infections who are admitted under the care of our own unit, for example, people with COVID-19.
Finally, we also run a number of outpatient clinics every week.
Infectious Diseases clinic is also offered through North Canberra Hospital specialist outpatient clinics.
Who we care for
Our clinics are available for patients with a referral from a GP or a specialist.
We offer these services for free if you have a Medicare Card or an Asylum Seeker Card.
