The ACT Trauma Service (ACTTS) is the designated Major Trauma Centre for the ACT, Southern NSW and the Murrumbidgee. We are a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who will coordinate the management and treatment of trauma related injuries.
About this service
We care for you if you have multiple traumatic injuries. This includes:
- case management, to ensure you get the right care
- coordinating the different services that will care for you while in hospital
- caring for you after you’ve been discharged from hospital, with in person or over the phone.
Who we care for
We care for all people admitted to the ACT Trauma Service as the result of a traumatic injury/ies.
We are the tertiary referral hospital for trauma patients within ACT and large parts of the NSW Southern LHD, including the following hospitals: Batemans Bay, Batlow, Bega, Bombala, Boorowa, Braidwood, Cooma, Crookwell, Delegate, Goulburn, Moruya, Pambula, Queanbeyan, Tumut, Yass and Young.
How to access this service
Your admission to the ACT Trauma Service will be arranged by the Emergency Department, if appropriate.
When you’re discharged from hospital, we’ll arrange any further appointments, if necessary, and will let you know about these before you leave.
In some cases, you will be asked to make further appointments by calling Central Health Intake. This will be noted on your discharge letter.
What to expect
Our team will see you daily while you’re in hospital.
When you leave hospital, we may arrange further appointments. We’ll send you a letter to confirm your appointment time and any special instructions that might be needed.
