We supply a range of loan equipment to people in the ACT community.
About this service
We can loan equipment to you if you are being discharged from hospital, for trial and general rehabilitation purposes.
This equipment includes, but is not limited to:
- Wheelchairs
- Hospital beds
- Hoists
- Mobility aids
- Ramps
- Mattresses
- Bathroom aids.
Who we care for
We are a free, short term (up to three months) equipment loan service.
Our loan service is available for:
- People living in the ACT who aren’t hospital inpatients or living in an aged care facility
- ACT & NSW residents who are being discharged from a public hospital in the ACT.
- ACT residents who are being discharged from a private hospital in the ACT.
- ACT and NSW residents presenting to Canberra Hospital or North Canberra Hospital emergency departments who need loan equipment to prevent a hospital admission.
If you need equipment for longer than three months, you will need to contact your primary therapist. They can prescribe equipment on a long-term basis.
Your primary therapist may be:
- Occupational Therapist
- Palliative care nurse
- Physiotherapist
- Registered Nurse.
How to access this service
Your primary health therapist will need to complete a referral to ensure we loan you the right equipment.
What to expect
We will be in contact with you once your referral has been processed.
We cannot loan equipment without a completed referral form.
A delivery and/or collection service may be available for bulky items for eligible ACT residents.
