Faeces Collection
Why am I having this test?
Your doctor has asked that you provide a sample of faeces for examination by the laboratory.
What do I need to do?
If you have not been given a sterile faeces container by your doctor, you can collect one, for free, from any ACT Pathology Collection Centre.
A small amount of faeces is all that is needed for this test. To collect your faeces sample:
- Use a clean container to pass a sample into (for example a clean ice cream container).
- Scoop a small amount of faeces into the sterile faeces’ container using the scoop provided inside the container.
- Screw the lid on firmly and write your full name, date of birth, date and time of collection on the label.
- Place your sample inside the plastic zip lock bag supplied and seal the bag. Place the request form in the side pocket of the bag.
- Take the sample to your nearest ACT Pathology Collection Centre.
