Position overview
Ward 7B is a 32-bed unit that delivers high quality care for acute medical patients with multiple co-morbidities and acutely medically unwell mental health patients.
Ward 7B CDN provides support to graduate nurses, nursing students and new and existing staff. The CDN promotes an environment which facilitates feedback, reflective practice, and innovative change to meet the constant demands within the unit. The CDN plays a leadership role in the ongoing evaluation and development of policy/protocol/procedure and quality improvement activities. The CDNmaintains the 7B nursing team learning plan including tracking mandatory and required education.
Key responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Facilitate clinical teaching within the workplace using adult learning principles and following practice standards and policies including support of new colleagues and preceptors.
- Work with CNC to identify learning needs of the area and lead development activities and clinical in-service programs to promote evidence-based practice, including coordination of 7B team members and external stakeholders to provide education.
- Manage competency-based assessment and mandatory/required training of all nurses within the clinical setting including maintaining the database to track individuals’ compliance.
- Play a leadership role in risk management, quality improvement, procedure review, nursing practice review and clinical research activities
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications

Essential
- Relevant Tertiary Nursing qualifications in nursing
- Certificate in training and assessment
- Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Desirable
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Experience
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Minimum 4 years’ fulltime equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care setting
- Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Desirable
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, and all other related frameworks.
Prior to commencement
Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances.
