An opportunity is available for suitably qualified Registered Nurse to apply for a Permanent position, as a Navigator/Clinical Coordinator in the Emergency Department. Successful applicants will be required to work a rotating roster with morning, evening and night shifts 7 days a week. The number of successful applicants will be determinant on your preferred FTE. There is the opportunity for temporary contracts to backfill leave.
Key responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Under limited direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing you will have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Lead the delivery of clinical services in the Emergency Department to ensure they are patient centered, adhere to best practice and coordinated to provide safe and timely access to clinical care through appropriate use of resources, applicable standards of care and legislation.
- Lead and foster a no blame culture to ensure a learning environment that encourages regular timely feedback and open communication to the multidisciplinary health care team in the Emergency Department.
- Provide expert leadership and problem-solving skills in negotiation and facilitation of patient flow initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and performance outcomes to achieve national benchmark standards for a tertiary hospital.
- Lead, promote and actively participate in achieving competency in all mandatory education requirements and supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs and continuous professional development to foster a learning and development culture in conjunction with the ED Clinical Support Nurse.
- Participate, support and contribute to the development and review of evidence-based policies and procedures, participate in ED quality improvement initiatives and risk management strategies, clinical research and audits in conjunction with the ADON, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Nurse Manager and Clinical Support Nurse.
- Comply with and deliver against the required key performance indicators in respect to Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace diversity and Industrial Democracy principles and practices and an ability to apply them to one’s own work practices and to the management of staff and a commitment to the values of ACT Health and TCH.
- Participate in a twenty-four-hour rotating, seven day per week roster which meets the departmental needs.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Relevant Tertiary Nursing qualifications and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working professionally in the Emergency Department, or Post Graduate qualifications.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Desirable
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.

- Ability to lead and manage the coordination and facilitation of high quality, safe and timely access to patient centred care within a multidisciplinary team which achieves the National Benchmarks for a Tertiary Hospital Emergency Department.
- Demonstrated current expert knowledge and ability to perform at an advanced level of nursing practice that is evidence based in all areas within the Emergency Department.
- Demonstrated high level of communication written and oral including commitment to, and participation in, clinical and/or education research, quality improvement, risk management mitigation strategies, policy review and development and personal professional development.
- Proven record of behaviour and attitude consistent with professional standards to deliver regular timely feedback and open communication to the multidisciplinary healthcare team within the Emergency Department. Including up to date mandatory training requirements.
- Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, work, health and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful and kind.
