Position overview
The DonateLife ACT Clinical Manager oversees the day-to-day management and supports the clinical and hospital-based delivery of the organ donation service in the ACT including ongoing oversight, monitoring and review of clinical processes.
A member of the national DonateLife leadership team providing expert clinical advice on the national program.
The Clinical Manager works in collaboration with the Agency Manager in addressing nursing practice, clinical governance, education and policy and procedure developments for Donate Life ACT.
The Clinical Manager provides clinical leadership and is an exemplary role model for the Donation Specialist Nursing Coordinators.
Promotion of a continuous improvement and outcome-based nursing culture for DonateLife ACT.
The successful applicant may be required for weekend and after-hours work.
Key responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Under limited direction of the Agency Manager, DonateLife ACT, you will perform the duties required to deliver the clinical services of the national program including providing expert advice, direction and oversight of the delivery of clinical services.
You will:
- Work in collaboration with the Agency Manager and the State Medical Director (SMD) to manage the DonateLife Network clinical team, providing leadership, strategic direction, professional support and advice according to the terms of the funding agreements to enable the delivery of the national program
- Assist with the development and implementation of strategic and business plans, national priorities and operational policies and procedures within the context of the national strategic plan
- Work with the Agency Manager and the SMD to identify and manage risks, resolve complex problems and improve the quality and performance of the clinical services across the DonateLife Network
- Promote and monitor the implementation of national clinical best practice guidelines, standard operating procedures and policies including the current CPIP and best practice guideline for offering organ donation
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Commonwealth and Territory legislation, standards and guidelines as appropriate
- Contribute to the provision of timely reporting according to the requirements of the Territory funding agreements
- Support and facilitate the jurisdictional information and communication technology platform which supports the delivery and ongoing engagement in the use of the Electronic Donor Record (EDR), the DonateLife Audit, OrganMatch and the DonateLife Learning Module Site including ensuring these are utilised in accordance with local service agreements and administrative policies and protocols
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Current drivers’ licence
Desirable
- Postgraduate clinical and leadership/managerial qualifications.
- Post graduate qualifications in a critical care area and/or experience in organ donation are desirable.
Experience
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- A minimum of 5 years fulltime equivalent post graduate experience in a critical care area (Emergency Department or Intensive Care). This experience should be recent.
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, and all other related frameworks.
- Previous experience in a complex health environment in a leadership/senior role.

- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
