14A – Inpatient Haematology / Oncology
The Registered Nurse Level 1 working in 14A provides safe, evidence‑based nursing care within a 22‑bed inpatient ward that is predominantly haematology focused, with medical and radiation oncology patients. The role involves caring for patients across the full continuum of care from diagnosis through to end‑of‑life, including those receiving chemotherapy, autologous stem cell transplants, radioactive iodine therapy, and treatment for febrile neutropenia. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, symptom management, medication administration, monitoring for clinical deterioration, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, supported by senior nurses and clinical development nurses, to deliver high‑quality acute patient care.
Medical Oncology Day Therapy Unit
The Registered Nurse Level 1 in the Medical Oncology Day Therapy Unit delivers patient‑centred nursing care to individuals receiving outpatient cancer treatments. The role includes assessment and preparation of patients for treatment, safe administration of anti‑cancer therapies, monitoring for adverse reactions, patient education, and coordination of care within a fast‑paced outpatient environment. Nurses work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and timely care while supporting patients throughout their treatment experience and maintaining high clinical and professional standards.
14B – Inpatient Oncology
The Registered Nurse Level 1 in 14B provides high‑quality nursing care to inpatient oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive treatments. The role includes conducting comprehensive assessments, managing complex symptoms such as pain, nausea, and fatigue, administering medications safely, and monitoring for treatment‑related complications. The nurse works collaboratively with medical, pharmacy, and allied health teams to deliver holistic, patient‑centred care, while supporting patients and families through education, emotional support, and palliative care when required.
Radiation Oncology
The Registered Nurse Level 1 in Radiation Oncology supports patients undergoing radiation treatment by providing education prior to treatment, ongoing assessment, and management of treatment‑related side effects, including skin reactions. The role includes nurse‑led review clinics during treatment and for up to six weeks post‑treatment, collaboration with medical staff to manage complex patient needs, and participation in a transfusion clinic supporting urgent transfusions. Nurses are required to manage patients efficiently, adapt to changing workloads, and work collaboratively within a small, close‑knit team to deliver safe, high‑quality care.

- Tertiary Qualification or related qualification in nursing
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Experience
Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following

- A minimum 1 years’ experience as Registered Nurse in acute care setting
Desirable
- Prior experience in an acute or subacute hospital setting will be highly desirable
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, and all other related frameworks.
- Driver’s License
