Under limited direction of the ICU/CCU CNC and Team leaders you will perform .You will:

1. Assist in the delivery of the following direct care activities as allocated by an Enrolled or Registered Nurse:
   • Patient personal care
   • Repositioning, pressure area and skin care
   • General patient ambulation and support mobilisation as per plan of care
   • Assistance with toileting
   • Taking and documenting of patient vital observations
2. Restock department medical consumables.
3. Change and make up occupied and unoccupied beds.
4. Report all patient observation to the appropriate Enrolled or Registered Nurse.
5. Practice in accordance with the relevant legislation and in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of individuals and/or groups.
6. Advocate for individuals and/or groups and their rights for nursing care within the organisational and management structure.
7. Understand and practice within your own scope of practice that integrates organisational policy and guidelines with professional standards.
8. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Direct Comprehensive Care or Provision of Direct Care

• Accountable for own healthcare practice and to the responsible RN for delegated episodes of care.
• Responsible for accepting delegated tasks/duties which require basic skills, training, and experience.
• Expected to be an active participant within their multidisciplinary work unit.
• Training to apply standardised practices and procedures as delegated, for example hold, as a minimum, a vocational qualification, Certificate III, or equivalent, with consideration to the area of specialisation or intended place of employment.
• Perform a range of duties that require basic skills, knowledge, training, and experience.

Support of Systems

• Adhere to established guidelines, protocols, procedures, standards, and systems of work as set out by the organisation.
• Contribute to the maintenance of a physically, culturally, and psychosocially safe environment for recipients of healthcare services and staff.
• Engage in incident reporting to promote safe, and/or rectify unsafe, practice.

Education

• Attend education sessions.
• Maintain personal ongoing education and development portfolio

Professional Leadership

• Under the guidance of the RN work to achieve best practice outcomes within the work unit environment.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

• Hold a HLT33115 Health Services Assistant (Assistant in Nursing – acute care) – certificate III or have completed the first year of a Bachelor of Nursing.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver quality nursing care in accordance with the ANMC National Competency Standards for a Registered Nurse.

Desirable

• Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
• Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.
