Position Overview

The Clinical Education Clinical Development Nurse/Midwife plays a vital role in ensuring that services meet National Health and Quality Standards, improve staff performance and delivery of high-quality evidence-based patient care.This position will be required to have advanced clinical and education knowledge to support the development of effective continuing education methods and be passionate about the acquisition of evidence-based, lifelong learning skills by clinical staff. You will actively seek to build cross-functional relationships for inter-professional education opportunities at North Canberra Hospital while maintaining a focus on nursing education.

Key responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Participate in and drive changes through risk management, quality improvement, nursing practice review and clinical research activities to ensure Canberra Health Services and North Canberra Hospital are meeting the National Health and Quality Standards.
  2. Facilitates hospital wide clinical teaching and workshops based on organisation requirements, utilising adult learning principles and following practice standards and policies.
  3. Promote evidence based best practice by providing education, training and development for nurses at all stages of the learning continuum
  4. Actively assist in the development and revision of clinical policy, procedures, nursing practice review, and quality improvement activities.
  5. Support the development and delivery of hospital wide mandatory and required training education, including clinical skills training, and competency assessment.
  6. Maintain own professional standards by keeping up with current policies, and procedures. Maintain clinical and other skills that are required for this position through accessing appropriate education and staff development opportunities. Enhance own professional competence through ongoing self-directed learning and research.
  7. Assist with the duties of the wider clinical education team including undergraduate nurses and graduate nursing teams as required
  8. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements / Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Tertiary Qualification in nursing.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Minimum of 4 years post graduate clinical experience.
  • Experience in the development and facilitation of education and clinical assessments.
  • CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
