Position Overview

The Enrolled Nurse will prepare the required nutrition for neonates in the Special Care Nursey (SCN) and Maternity Unit. The Enrolled Nurse will also provide direct care to neonates and their families under the direction and supervision of experienced Registered Neonatal Nurse/Midwives.

The Enrolled Nurse will take responsibility for their own professional development.

Key responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

  1. Accurately prepare, pour and label infant feeds.
  2. Assist with neonatal care including taking patient load.
  3. Participation in professional development of self and others.
  4. Participate in the delivery of family centered developmental care to neonates including education sessions to families.
  5. Participate in clinical auditing and quality improvement activities.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to observing infection control procedures in all areas of practice.
  7. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements / Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Be registered as an Enrolled Nurse or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful applicant will need to be available for weekend and after-hours work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development of self and others.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate legislation that relates to the position i.e. WHS legislation, EEO legislation.
  • Example: Minimum 12 months working.
  • CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
