Position Overview
The Medical Imaging SRMO position supports the clinical, educational and operational functions of the Medical Imaging department and contributes to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging and interventional services by providing clinical support, image review and interpretation, procedural assistance and patient care coordination under the supervision of accredited radiologists.
The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct.
Key responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following under limited direction of the Clinical Director, you will:
Under the limited direction of the Director of Medical Imaging you will:
- Provide medical support and oversight for staff and patients in the Medical Imaging department
- Assist with workflow coordination of inpatients and outpatients referred to the Medical Imaging Service including: timely triaging, consultation, protocolling, liaising with referrers and in doing so, promote a commitment to high quality, customer service principles, practices and attributes.
- Review imaging requests in consultation with radiologists to ensure clinical appropriateness and optimise imaging protocols.
- Facilitate and assist in image-guided procedures under direct supervision, including patient preparation, consent and post procedure care, ensuring they are conducted safely and respectfully, maintaining patient privacy, comfort and adherence to informed consent principles.
- Promote a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach to care that enables all members of the clinical team to feel respected and valued to optimise patient care and treatment outcomes.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including radiation safety and infection control, practicing evidence-based medicine, actively engaging in quality and safety activities and contributing to the review of policies and guidelines.
- Contribute to the education and training of medical students, junior medical staff and medical imaging staff and participate in departmental teaching, including tutorials, case review and multidisciplinary meetings.

Position Requirements / Qualifications
Mandatory
- Be registered or eligible for unconditional registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency, with no conditions, undertakings or reprimands (AHPRA).
- Relevant qualifications and minimum of 3 years’ experience working professionally in Medicine.
- Not be the subject of current inquiry by AHPRA.
- Evidence of current CPD activity.
- Previous experience in an acute medical setting.
- Training, experience, and competence in the management of patients with complex clinical. presentations in a hospital setting.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working professionally in Medicine.
- Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.
Desirable
- Previous experience working as a medical officer in Radiology and/or performing interventional or surgical procedures.
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.

- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for medical professionals.
