North Canberra Hospital, Bruce is a 256 bed public hospital providing acute and sub-acute services, with our Emergency Department receiving around 55 thousand presentations per year. The ICU Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) position is hospital specific Medical Officer training in Critical Care Medicine. We are seeking a SRMO who is interested in pursuing a career in Intensive Care or the critical care streams.
To be eligible for this position you must be PGY 3 + from February 2025.

Key responsibilities
- Provide day- to-day medical care for patients of Canberra Health Services.
- Maintain adequate medical records with legible entries.
- Participate in the supervision and education of more junior medical staff and medical students.
- Participate in the after-hour’s roster as required and in accordance with current safe working hour’s provisions.
- Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care.
- Work within and support the multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Undertaking other duties as directed, within the approved scope of clinical practice ensuring the delivery of high quality person and family centred, safe and high quality patient care.

Qualifications
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Applicants must have General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with no conditions, undertakings or reprimands (AHPRA).
- To be eligible to apply for this position you must be PGY 3 or above from February 2025
- Current Basic Life Support certification and the ability to obtain Advanced Life Support certification.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.
- CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.
Desirable
- Keen interest in ICU or critical care streams.
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
