Position overview

This role provides recruitment administration and support services to Canberra Health Services, delivering customer-focused recruitment and onboarding activities to meet workforce needs. The role is transactional in nature and requires strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills to administer end-to-end recruitment processes, process recruitment requests, ensure approvals are in place, generate employment correspondence, coordinate pre-employment background screening, liaise with candidates and stakeholders to meet legislative requirements, support HR operations, coordinate onboarding, and undertake small projects as required.

Key responsibilities

  1. Engage in all activities required in administering recruitment processes for new candidates to Canberra Health Services, including internal staffing variation requests.
  2. Manage the functional email inbox, providing prompt and informed responses to all recruitment related queries and requests.
  3. Provide guidance and timely advice to hiring managers on recruitment best practices and compliance, including ad text creation, sourcing channels, panel composition, candidate management, and relevant provisions of the ACT Government Enterprise Agreement and applicable employment legislation.
  4. Support the onboarding of all staff, including clinicians, ensuring induction and completion of mandatory compliance requirements such as health screening and background checks.
  5. Operate collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including but not limited to the Payroll function, Learning and Development and IT to ensure appropriate documentation is provided to relevant areas.
  6. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Key selection criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in human resource roles with a strong understanding of recruitment principles and practices, preferably in a public sector environment.
  2. Experience in working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Understanding of and experience in the use of HR computerised systems. Previous experience in Oracle platforms will be highly regarded.
  4. Demonstrated ability to organise workloads and manage competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines with high level attention to detail.
