Position overview

The Division of Surgery is responsible for delivering inpatient and outpatient surgical services. The Division includes Non-Admitted Patient Services (NAPS), Surgical Bookings and Pre-Admission Clinic, Anaesthesia, Pain Management Unit, Operating Theatres, Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit, Day Surgery Unit, Admissions, Day Procedure Unit, Endoscopy, and specialist surgical ward areas.

The Administrative Officer role within the Non-Admitted Patient Services department is responsible for front line customer service including reception and phone duties. This role works in a team environment and key responsibilities include appointment scheduling, referral and waitlist management, and liaison with patients and clinical personnel.

Key responsibilities

  1. Maintain patient information systems and perform data entry tasks with a high level of accuracy.
  2. Manage enquiries from patients, visitors and family relating to non-admitted patient services, delivering exceptional customer service.
  3. Provide administrative support to the non-admitted patient services department and clinicians.
  4. Schedule appointments, manage referrals and waitlists under direction of NAPS management.
  5. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Essential

  • CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
