Position Overview
Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding region.
Reporting to the General Manager (GM) the Business Manager is responsible for providing high level advice to, and co-ordinating, driving and delivering work undertaken by the GM.
As Business Manager you will work closely with the GM, the executive, and the teams that report to the GM. You will support the organisation to meet key compliance requirements, including undertaking ministerial and government business.
Duties
Under limited direction as Business Manager, you will operate with a high degree of independence reporting to the GM, you will:
- Provide management and oversight of highly complex issues and projects.
- Provide strategic and procedural advice on directorate and government issues, whether on request, in consultation with relevant areas, or on your own initiative.
- Prepare strategic and complex submissions, reports, briefs and correspondence in relation to a diverse range of matters on behalf of the GM.
- Liaise with CHS executives and their business units, other ACTPS directorates and external stakeholders on behalf of the GM.
- Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the section.

Position Requirements / Qualifications
Desirable
- Relevant knowledge and skills acquired either through formal studies or work experience in relation to ministerial and government business.
- Experience working in a health care setting.
- Relevant qualifications in public sector management and/or relevant public sector experience.
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.
Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
