Position Overview

The Revenue Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of hospital revenue functions, including billing, invoicing, debtor management, and compliance monitoring. The position will provide leadership to the Patient Accounts, Accounts Payable team and VMO Officer, ensure effective billing practices, manage key systems (PBRC, Converge, DHR), and collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to enhance financial outcomes while meeting regulatory standards.

Duties

  1. Provide high-level oversight of the hospital’s billing processes, ensuring compliance with the National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA), Health Insurance Act 1973, and relevant legislation.
  2. Lead and support the Patient Accounts and Accounts Payable teams, fostering a positive, productive, and performance-focused environment.
  3. Utilise expert knowledge of PBRC, Converge, and DHR to support efficient billing, revenue reporting, and troubleshooting.
  4. Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to ensure data integrity and appropriate billing classification.
  5. Support accurate and timely Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) billing and payment reconciliation.
  6. Identify billing inefficiencies, implement system improvements, and provide education to internal stakeholders.
  7. Provide monthly revenue and debtor reports, and support business case development for new services or funding initiatives.
  8. Participate in and manage revenue-related audits, ensuring findings are actioned and compliance is maintained.
  9. Support testing and roll-out of system upgrades and integration of new technologies.

Position Requirements / Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in healthcare finance, including at least 2 as Revenue Manager.
  • Extensive experience with PBRC, Converga, and DHR systems.
  • Sound understanding of NHRA, MBS, and billing regulations.
  • Strong staff supervision, training, and performance management capability.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, ACTPAS, and financial reporting tools.
  • Proven experience in VMO payment processing and revenue audits.
  • Demonstrated experience in hospital revenue operations and public health billing.
  • CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
