Applications are sought the for 2027 clinical year, commencing February 2027 for 12 months with possible extension. To be eligible to apply for this position, applicants must be PGY7+.

The Medical Imaging Department at the Canberra Hospital is a fully integrated facility including two 1.5T MRI Units, CT, four Ultrasound rooms, Nuclear Medicine unit with four Gamma Cameras and Interventional Radiology with two Angio suites, Breast Service and PET/CT with complex and interesting workload.

Appointment is available for an Interventional Fellow with Medical Imaging at the Canberra Hospital.

Applications should be from suitably qualified medical graduates eligible for general registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and FRANZCR or equivalent. Applicants near completion of FRANZCR may be considered at the discretion of the selection panel.

Key responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage under supervision the daily list of interventional cases coming through the Department
  • Perform and assist a range of vascular and non-vascular interventional radiological (IR) procedures commensurate with level of experience/expertise
  • Attend and contribute to clinical meetings where IR cases are discussed
  • Organise monthly IR M&M audit
  • Actively pursue one or more research projects and submit for presentation at RANZCR and/or IRSA ASM 2020, with a view to subsequent publication
  • Demonstrate commitment to training and continuing professional development including participation in relevant teaching programs, activities, and feedback opportunities, involvement in research, and teaching of junior medical staff and/or medical students
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).
  • Proven log-book ability to perform Tier A interventional procedures is mandatory
  • Must be PGY7+

Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.
