Position overview

The Chief Financial Officer Division is led by the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) who reports to the Chief Executive officer of Canberra Health Services. The Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of budgets, financial management, and for providing strong operational finance and performance reporting analysis across the health service.

The Procurement and Supply (P&S) Branch is part of the CFO Division and is accredited with Level 4 – Advanced (Lead Buyer) procurement accreditation and manages CHS procurement requirements including acquisition, inventory management, invoice processing and delivery to hospital wards and other end users. P&S comprises four teams, Procurement Medical Equipment, Procurement Inventory and Services, Supply Chain, and Supply Operations.

This position reports to the Assistant Director, Supply Chain and is primarily located at the CHS Distribution Centre in Hume.

Key Responsibilities

Under direction of the Assistant Director, Supply Chain you will perform Finance and Administration duties aligning with the needs of the Supply Chain team. You will:

  3. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.

  2. Ability to coordinate Supply Chain inbox and telephone enquiries with demonstrated ability to provide administrative support functions, including ability to prioritise, show initiative and meet deadlines.
  3. Proven well developed verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, trade representatives and clerical, technical and professional staff.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in computerised ERP systems and/or finance systems.
  5. Ability to work as a team member and encourage other team members to make a positive contribution to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work environment, with ability to do so independently when required.
  6. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work Health and Safety and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful, and kind.
