Position overview

The Office of Research and Education (ORE) provides governance and oversight of research, learning and teaching within CHS.

​ORE is responsible for the development and implementation of the organisation's research and learning, and teaching strategies. The Clinical Learning and Teaching Strategy has a strong focus on simulation governance, infrastructure and building interprofessional simulation capacity across the organisation. The Simulation Technician position will support the Strategies initiatives, whilst also supporting high-quality simulation learning and teaching across CHS.

​This role is in the Simulation Unit, a small team working in a dynamic, evolving environment. The position requires initiative, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.​

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Provide day to day set up, basic trouble shooting, and pack down of simulation equipment to support simulated learning within CHS.
  2. Operation and use of simulation equipment including high fidelity mannequins, part task trainers, audio visual equipment and medical devices as required.
  3. Under the guidance of the Simulation Technician (TO4) performs maintenance for CHS simulation assets.
  4. ​Collects simulation usage and participation data and maintains accurate records.
  5. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • National Health Education and Training Simulation Module C2 (or similar) or willing to obtain (with support within 6 months of starting).

  1. Demonstrated knowledge or willingness to develop skills required for the use of simulated learning technologies within health disciplines. Aptitude to quickly acquire competence in the use of simulated learning, computer-based audio-visual equipment, and software.
  2. Demonstrated high level of communication skills, including the ability to interact with stakeholders across Canberra Health Services.
  3. Well-developed computer skills including experience in maintaining records and collating data.
  4. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, work, health, and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful, and kind.
