Position overview
The Radiation Therapy Project Officer will leverage advanced specialist knowledge in ARIA, EPIC, and Radiation Oncology business operations to drive data quality initiatives within the ARIA patient information management system. This role demands a high level of clinical and operational insight to ensure data integrity through comprehensive auditing, cleansing, and process improvement. The successful candidate will identify and resolve inconsistencies in patient records, implement robust data governance practices, and collaborate closely with clinical and IT teams to optimise records management. By applying expert-level understanding of radiation oncology workflows, this position will contribute directly to improved patient care outcomes through accurate, reliable, and clinically meaningful data.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct systematic data audits that identify inaccuracies in the patient information system.
- Develop and implement data validation procedures to maintain high standards of data integrity.
- Cleanse and standardise patient records to ensure consistency across clinical and administrative datasets and systems used in the Radiation Oncology environment.
- Work with IT, informatics and clinical staff to troubleshoot data-related issues and improve system functionality.
- Document data quality issues and resolutions to support transparency and continuous improvement.
- Monitor data entry practices and provide feedback or training to staff to reduce future errors.
- Generate reports to track and report progress on data quality issues and highlight areas for improvement.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
Competencies
To be successful in this position, it is expected that you will have the following attributes:
- Advanced knowledge of ARIA and EPIC systems.
- Able to identify, correct, and prevent data anomalies, duplicates, and inconsistencies across Radiation Therapy patient records and treatment plans.

Qualifications
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Radiation Therapy.
- Unconditional registration as a Radiation Therapy Practitioner with the AHPRA Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
- ACT Radiation Council License to operate radiation emitting apparatus used for Radiation Therapy purposes.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications, or extensive experience, in health informatics, project management, or a related field.
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Experience
Essential
- At least 3 years post graduate clinical experience.
- Prior experience using ARIA Oncology Information System and EPIC Digital Health Record.
Desirable
- ARIA System Administration knowledge and experience.
- High order interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering high quality patient care.
- Demonstrated good attention to detail.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, and all other related frameworks.
Prior to commencement
Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:
- Pre-employment National Police Check.

- Extensive experience working within a radiation therapy clinical environment, with strong knowledge of oncology workflows, patient data management, ARIA Oncology Information System (OIS) and EPIC Digital Health Record (DHR).
- Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated experience in conducting data audits and completion of cleansing activities within a patient information system.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with IT, informatics, and clinical staff to troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Ability to monitor data entry practices, provide feedback or training to staff, and generate reports that track progress on data quality initiatives and highlight areas for improvement.
