Position overview

Quality, Safety and Governance (QSG) supports the delivery of CHS’ strategic approach to patient safety and quality systems with a focus on continuous improvement. The QSG portfolio includes National Standards and Improvement, Incident Management, Clinical Analytics and Insights, Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance, Medico Legal, Corporate Records, Policy and Strategy, and Strategic Communications.

The Quality and Safety Project Officer will support the organisation with system wide improvements to enhance the safety and quality of care we provide. This includes the planning, execution, and delivery of projects by coordinating tasks, managing resources and timelines, drafting documents, delivering education and communicating with stakeholders to ensure projects run smoothly and are successful.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Manage the planning, implementation and monitoring of assigned projects with the overall aim of supporting continuous system-wide improvements to the safety and quality of care provided at CHS.
  2. Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information to drive project outcomes.
  3. Facilitate and contribute to the development of project deliverables such as policy documents, digital health record enhancements and educational resources.
  4. Prepare high-quality project documents, written reports, briefs, and other documents for a range of audiences on a range of healthcare improvement areas.
  5. Undertake research, audit, evaluation and analysis to inform recommendations for improvement activities and policy changes.
  6. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

For Nurses:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 5 years’ full time equivalent experience working professionally.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

For Health Professionals:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 5 years’ full-time experience working professionally.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or be registered or eligible for membership of the appropriate professional organisation.
  • Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.

For Medical Officer:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 4 years’ full time equivalent experience working professionally.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Desirable

For Senior Officer Grade C:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 5 years’ full time equivalent experience working professionally in the health sector.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.

What you Require (Key Selection Criteria)

  1. Understanding of healthcare as a complex adaptive system, the intricacies of the consumer and carers journey and how they directly relate to system wide improvement.
  2. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage, liaise and influence relationships with a wide range of professional disciplines and stakeholders, including experience preparing reports, briefs, and other documents.
  3. Proven experience in analysing and monitoring healthcare-based data to assist with driving change to improve clinical care and outcomes for consumers.
  4. Proven problem solving, organisational and time management skills, with ability to plan, organise, schedule, and coordinate multiple tasks with minimal supervision to achieve desired outcomes.
  5. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work Health and Safety and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful, and kind.
