Position overview
The Allied Health Clinical Education Unit (AHCEU), part of the Division of Allied Health, is responsible for delivering high‑quality clinical education and workforce development.
The position sits within the Allied Health Clinical Education Unit (AHCEU), based at the Canberra Hospital.
The Psychology Clinical Educator position provides clinical education and supervision support for psychology students and staff and assists with facilitating and promoting interprofessional clinical education activities.
This position is for an experienced clinician who leads with commitment, is able to create solutions, demonstrates agility, communicates effectively, collaborates with purpose and is accountable for quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Provision of CHS-wide leadership in clinical education, teaching and training activities to staff and students, including vocational education, postgraduate students.
- Consultation with senior clinicians to ensure that clinical education and clinical supervision services are developed to meet evidence based best practice standards across a range of health care settings.
- Design, implement and evaluate teaching and training activities relating to allied health and the professional field within and across designated program/s in consultation with relevant senior clinicians.
- Promotion and facilitation of clinical education research and/or quality improvements projects that align with CHS Values.
- Consultation and liaison with external agencies and relevant education providers in relation to clinical teaching, student placements, curriculum development and research.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

- Ability to coordinate high‑quality student placements across CHS, ensuring effective learning experiences and robust supervision structures.
- Capability to provide skilled supervision to students and clinicians, using appropriate models that support professional growth.
- Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate education and foundational skills training, effectively using technology, teaching media, and contemporary learning methods.
- Strong organisational, teaching and presentation skills, with a flexible, proactive, and adaptive approach to managing competing priorities.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to consult, liaise, and build partnerships that enhance learning, curriculum development, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- General registration with Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Psychology Board-approved supervisor
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant education field or Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment, or willing to work towards relevant education qualifications.
- Area of Practice Endorsement with Psychology Board of Australia
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Experience
Specific experience include, but are not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience since general registration.
- Prior experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating education or training packages.
Desirable
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.

- Proven ability to provide a high level of skilled clinical assessment and interventions consistent with the Psychology Board of Australia’s professional competencies, and Area of Practice Competencies where appropriate.
- Demonstrated experience providing supervision for psychology Higher Degree students and staff, knowledge of clinical supervision models and Psychology Board of Australia Code of Conduct and policies, procedures, guidelines, and registration standards related to supervision and continuing professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs, including interprofessional and profession specific education, with a strong grasp of adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead professionally by promoting evidence-based practices including active participation in quality improvement activities, research, and the professional development of team members.
- High level communication and collaboration skills within an interprofessional environment, including the demonstrated ability toestablish and maintain relationships with internal and external service providers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, safety and quality standards, workplace health and safety (WH&S), and the delivery of a positive patient experience. Exhibits behaviours aligned with Canberra Health Services’ values of reliability, progressiveness, respect, and kindness.
