Position overview
Canberra Health Services (CHS) is responsible for leading the insourcing (a transition from a contractor to in-house delivery) of cleaning services for the Canberra Hospital campus and Community Health Care Facilities from 1 October 2026. It is also leading the transition to insourcing cleaning services and food services at the North Canberra Hospital and Clare Holland House from 1 October 2027.
The Project Officer will focus on activities associated with the engagement and support of the transitioning workforce, as well as providing a central point of contact for the workforce to ask questions and obtain information on the onboarding process. This includes planning and developing key documents and workflows to support the recruitment process and manage the assessment of a candidate’s eligibility for an offer of employment in the ACT Public Service (ACTPS).
Key Responsibilities
Under limited direction of the Director of the Insourcing Taskforce, you will:
- Assist in the planning and management of recruitment activities for the onboarding of the transitioning workforce, including the development of fact sheets and FAQs on key issues.
- Ensure clear and timely communication, providing high-level customer service and extensive support with onboarding processes to ensure new starters are employed and inducted in line with compliance requirements, including mandatory health screening and background checking.
- Provide high level administrative support to develop and coordinate workflows, including the review of documentation, prioritising, redirecting, tracking and researching background information as required and responding as appropriate.
- Work closely with team members of the Insourcing Transition Taskforce contributing to project objectives and outcomes to align with stakeholder expectations including Union participation.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the project.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.
