Position overview
Canberra Health Services (CHS) is responsible for leading the insourcing (a transition from a contractor to in-house delivery) of environmental cleaning services for the Canberra Hospital campus and Community Health Care Facilities from 1 October 2026. It is also leading the transition to insourcing of cleaning services and food services at the North Canberra Hospital and Clare Holland House from August 2027.
The Project Officer is responsible for coordinating and delivering project activities that support the successful implementation of the insourced service across CHS. Working under limited direction, the role contributes to project planning, procurement and logistics activities, operational readiness, workforce transition, stakeholder engagement and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Coordinate and deliver project activities associated with the implementation of insourced cleaning and food services across CHS, including contribution to project planning, transition schedules, operational readiness activities, and achievement of project milestones.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, reports and communication materials to support project outcomes and senior management decision making.
- Support workforce transition activities, including recruitment, onboarding, induction and workforce engagement activities.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to change management initiatives and support the adoption of new operational models, systems and processes.
- Support procurement, logistics and operational planning activities required for implementation of the insourced service model.
- Provide high level administrative support to develop and coordinate workflows, including the review of documentation, prioritising, redirecting, tracking and researching background information as required and responding as appropriate.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the project.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.
