Position overview

In this role you will be part of a friendly and engaging Podiatry team based within the Community Care Program.

The Community Care Podiatry team delivers safe podiatry care from various community health centre locations across the ACT. Our care spans prevention, generalist, and specialised services. Through comprehensive assessment, case management, and health education the Podiatrist is responsible for supporting both the short and long-term foot care needs for eligible residents of the ACT.

Community Care Podiatry provides services for National Disability Insurance Scheme participants as well as Commonwealth Home Support Program clientele.

Podiatrists within Canberra Health Services work collaboratively and are required to participate in regular clinical supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Under direction of the Community Care Podiatry Manager, you will:

  1. Provide a high level of appropriate skilled clinical assessment and interventions across a range of clinical areas.
  2. Exercise independent professional judgment in solving problems and managing cases where principles, procedures and techniques require expansion, adaptation, or modification.
  3. Liaise with carers and other service providers to facilitate effective service provisions.
  4. Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of clinical governance activities, quality improvement projects, research programs, and health promotion in areas relevant to service.
  5. Contribute to the development, evaluation and analysis of policies and procedures applicable to professional practice.
  6. Provide professional supervision and/or training to other staff and students as directed or required.
  7. Complete clinical and administrative data collection and evaluation to standard.
  8. Undertake other duties appropriate to this classification level that support the effective operation of the organisation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Podiatry.
  • Be registered with the Podiatry Board of Australia through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • A minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience as a Podiatrist.

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:

  • Pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 with NDIS is required.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
  • Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.
