Position overview
The Director, Client Support Services is responsible for the leadership and management of a range of services, based in the Village Creek Centre, Kambah. This includes the NDIS Support Unit, Clinical Technology Services (Prosthetics and Orthotics and Clinical Technology Workshop) as well as Oxygen and Equipment Services - ACT Equipment Scheme (ACTES), ACT Domiciliary Oxygen and Respiratory Support Scheme (DORSS) and the Equipment Loan Service (ELS). This position also contributes to the leadership and management for the Village Creek Centre site.
Rehabilitation, Aged and Community Services (RACS) is a vibrant and diverse Division within Canberra Health Services providing multidisciplinary rehabilitation, aged and community-based services across a range of settings. This includes the Canberra Hospital, University of Canberra Hospital, Community Health Centres and the Village Creek Centre, Kambah. The University of Canberra Hospital (UCH): Specialist Centre for Rehabilitation, Recovery and Research is located adjacent to the University of Canberra in Bruce. UCH is the ACT’s first sub-acute rehabilitation hospital, is part of Canberra Health Services’ network of health facilities designed to meet the needs of our ageing and growing population.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
You will:
- Provide strategic direction and planning for Client Support Services, these are:
- Clinical Technology Services, including Prosthetics and Orthotics, Clinical Technology Workshop and Custom Medical Grade Footwear.
- Oxygen and Equipment Services, including ACT Equipment Scheme (ACTES), ACT Domiciliary Oxygen and Respiratory Support Scheme (DORSS) and the Equipment Loan Service (ELS).
- National Disability Support Scheme (NDIS) Support Unit.
- Provide operational leadership for all services including financial, physical and human resources.
- Provide high level policy and operational advice to Canberra Health Services.
- Ensure systems of clinical and corporate governance are in place and monitor the continued effectiveness of these systems, and champion the National Safety and Quality in Health Care Standards.
- Ensure the services are committed to the delivery of high-quality person-centred services, while ensuring integration occurs with other relevant service providers both within and external to RACS.
- Represent CHS at appropriate forums including, state and territory bilateral working groups and NDIS forums.
- Undertake required procurement activities for services and manage contracts for Client Support Services.
- Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the division and organisation, including contributing to the overall operating requirements of the Village Creek Centre, Kambah.
- Lead and manage organisational change initiatives across Client Support Services, including service redesign and policy reform. This includes applying structured change management methodologies to support staff adaptation, maintaining service continuity, mitigating risks, and achieving sustainable improvements in service delivery, quality, and client outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience
Specific qualifications include, but is not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Hold a driver’s license
Desirable
- Qualifications in a management field are desirable.
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.

- Proven ability to lead effective clinical and corporate governance systems, maintain quality standards and provide person centred care.
- Proven high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to successfully liaise negotiate and communicate with a range of staff, consumers, carers, and service providers within a complex health care environment.
- Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work Health and Safety and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful, and kind.
