Position overview
Reporting to the Senior Dental Technician, you will be assigned lab cases for the fabrication of dentures and dental appliances ensuring you meet your minimum KPI target each day. You will be required to liaise with clinicians, administrative officers, technicians and managers to achieve this and participate in team meetings, activities and training as required.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Under limited direction of the Senior Dental Technician, you will:
- Provide dental technology services including fabrication of dentures and dental appliances under routine supervision for clients of CHS Dental.
- Have some direct responsibility for resource management in-line with established procedures and practices.
- Exercise independent judgement on routine matters and work under professional supervision of the HPO3 when performing all tasks.
- Liaise with dental clinicians and other service providers as required.
- Comply with and contribute to the relevant policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
- Participate in supervision, continuing professional development and performance appraisal and development, clinical governance, quality improvement activities and research activities as directed.
- Follow well defined technical or professional guidelines and accepted practice or precedents to achieve specific end results.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Qualifications
Essential
- Tertiary Qualification or related qualification in Dental Technology or equivalent.
Desirable
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Experience
Essential
- Prior experience working in a dental laboratory.
- Fabricate splints, special trays and bite blocks.
- Set up full and partial acrylic and chrome dentures.
- Finish full and partial acrylic and chrome dentures.
Desirable
- 2 years Prior experience as a qualified technician working in a dental laboratory will be highly desirable.
- Previous experience in fabricating orthodontic appliances.
- Previous experience in CAD-CAM denture production.
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, and all other related frameworks.
Prior to commencement
Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:
- Pre-employment National Police Check.
