Position overview

Under direct supervision of the Quality and Promotions Manager, The Community Health Officer coordinates and delivers health promotion programs through effective resource management, stakeholder engagement, data oversight, and administrative support. The role contributes to improved community health outcomes by ensuring programs are well‑planned, evidence‑informed, and delivered efficiently.

The Quality and Promotions Team provide a key role in encouraging participation and engaging stakeholders to increase screening participation at BreastScreen ACT.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

  1. Develop, review, and distribute health promotion materials across clinics, outreach sites, and community events.
  2. Plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion initiatives.
  3. Assist in the development of communications plans.
  4. Assist in the development of evaluation tools, including survey design, and distribution.
  5. Track program activities, participation, and outcomes to support reporting and evaluation.
  6. Monitor and evaluate health promotion activities in alignment with the BreastScreen Australia National Accreditation Standards (NAS).
  7. Maintain partnerships with clinics, NGOs, community organisations, and government organisations for referrals and joint initiatives.
  8. Provide administrative support for health promotion and communication initiatives.
  9. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
