Position overview

BreastScreen ACT is part of the BreastScreen Australia screening program. The Service offers free breast screening to women aged 40 years and over living in the ACT. The Program has a target age group of women between 50 and 74 years. BreastScreen ACT provides screening at three sites located in the Canberra city, Phillip and Belconnen Health Centres. All administrative support and assessments clinics are carried out in the Canberra city clinic. Under limited direction of the Administration Team Leader, you will provide administrative and general office support to ensure a high-quality service to clinicians and customer focused services to patients. This includes but is not limited to - data entry, Reception duties and making appointments for clients over the phone.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Under limited direction of the Administration Team leader, you will:

  1. Under general direction, provide administrative and general office support to ensure a high-quality service to clinicians and customer focused services to patients and their carers.
  2. Undertake duties as outlined in the relevant role descriptor in accordance with policies, procedures, and training.
  3. Attempt to resolve issues immediately in line with allocated duties and escalate to the team leader / administration manager where necessary.
  4. Always ensure a high level of customer service, including presenting in a professional manner and handling all encounters professionally and politely following high quality customer service principles, practices and attributes.
  5. Work in a collaborative and flexible manner with all staff members across the Canberra Region Cancer Centre to provide administrative support during hours of operation as directed.
  6. Undertake all data entry with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Supervise, train and support colleagues as required.
  8. Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the section.

Qualifications

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

  • Training in Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft suit of programs.

Desirable

  • Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
  • Knowledge of the Breastscreen Australia program and a good working understanding (or ability to quickly acquire) of the BreastScreen Information System.

Experience

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

  • Prior experience working in a call centre environment.
  • Prior experience in an administrative role.
  • Prior experience with data entry.

Desirable

Prior to commencement

  • Pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
