The Quality, Safety and Governance team provides leadership for corporate and quality and safety, assurance, and governance systems and processes, supporting all other clinical and operational areas within the Canberra Health Services Network to deliver exceptional health care. It includes Quality and Safety, National Standards and Accreditation, Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance, Medico Legal, Corporate Records, Strategic Communications, Clinical Incident Management, Policy and Strategy areas. The Assistant Director Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance role works in a small and dedicated team supporting risk management, internal audit and legislative compliance processes within CHS. The position plays a key role in strengthening the maturity of risk management and compliance across CHS, helping to maintain high standards of care, and improving the health of our community. You will coordinate medical device and pharmaceutical recall, product alert, product correction, and quarantine activity. You will report to the Director, Risk Management and provide support to the internal audit and legislative compliance functions within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

    Risk Management

  1. Assist with the review, implementation, and evaluation of the Canberra Health Services Risk Management Program, including policy, tools/templates, educational resources, and quality assurance program.
  2. Provide advice, support, and education to the organisation on risk management governance and processes, including risk assessments and risk registers.
  3. Support monitoring of and reporting on the CHS Risk Register and associated action plans, including undertaking risk assessments as required.
  4. Assist with the integration of risk management, including learnings from risk assessments into other organisational business processes.
  5. Undertake data analysis from various sources for the identification and management of risks, and for quality assurance purposes.
  6. Legislative Compliance

  7. Assist with maintaining the legislative compliance database, monitoring compliance status and providing advice and support to staff self-assessing legislative compliance.
  8. Recalls

  9. Coordinate medical device and medicine related recalls, product alerts, product corrections and quarantine for Canberra Health Services, including implantable devices that may require patient contact.
  10. Internal Audit

  11. Assist with monitoring progress of audit recommendations, collating evidence provided in support of resolving recommendations and other duties as appropriate.
  12. Provide administrative support to the Audit and Risk Management Committee as needed.
  13. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
