Position overview

Our role is to lead and direct strategic communications, engagement and media activities that support CHS to achieve its goals.

We are a dedicated, fun, hard-working team committed to supporting CHS staff to deliver business objectives and help drive positive cultural change through effective, timely and progressive communication activities.

We work hard to ensure the Canberra community is well informed on government programs, policies and services, and has meaningful opportunities to inform decision making. We listen to the people of Canberra and are their voice in government. We value ongoing learning and will support you to grow your career.

This is a dual-focus role that combines strategic social media management with hands-on content creation. The Digital Communities Manager and Content Creator guides the strategic approach and leads the planning, development and delivery of CHS’s social media channels, driving growth and engagement with our community and key stakeholders. The role also captures compelling video and photography content that tells the CHS story across internal and external channels. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical staff and corporate teams across all parts of the organisation to translate complex health topics into accessible, engaging content, and provide timely, practical social media expertise to senior leaders, including on emerging issues.

  2. Manage the day-to-day operation of CHS’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram), including content planning, scheduling, moderation and community management.
  3. Provide strategic social media expertise to senior leaders, including on messaging, positioning, audience targeting and issue management.
  4. Monitor social media channels to identify emerging issues, sentiment trends and reputational risks, and provide timely, evidence-based advice.
  5. Analyse social media performance data and present regular insights and recommendations to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
  6. Prepare and distribute reports evaluating the performance of social media and broader communication channels.
  7. Develop and maintain social media guidelines, policies and frameworks to ensure consistent, compliant and effective use of platforms across CHS.
  8. Deliver social media projects and campaigns to agreed priorities, timelines and quality standards, including stakeholder management and reporting.

Content Creation and Production

  1. Plan, coordinate, capture and edit high-quality video and photographic content for use across social media, internal communications, the CHS website and external media.
  2. Produce a wide range of creative content including short-form video, reels, and images that are visually compelling and audience-focused.
  3. Apply exceptional storytelling skills to simplify complex clinical and health topics and present them in engaging, accessible formats suitable for diverse audiences.
  4. Engage confidently with clinical and corporate staff to identify and bring the CHS story to life across channels.
