Position overview

The Allied Health Clinical Placement Officer manages Allied Health clinical and non-clinical work integrated learning placements within ACT Health and Community Services Directorate and Canberra Health Services.

The Allied Health Clinical Placement Officer supports education partners, placement areas, and placement supervisors in the provision of Allied Health work integrated learning placements including incident management and assists the Clinical Placement Office Manager with the coordination of a variety of projects and initiatives that impact the support and development of the Allied Health workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

  1. Optimise systems to support excellence in Allied Health clinical and non-clinical work integrated learning within ACT Health and Community Services Directorate and Canberra Health Services.
  2. Co-ordinate Allied Health clinical and non-clinical work integrated learning placements within ACT Health and Community Services Directorate and Canberra Health Services.
  3. Establish and maintain collaborative networking and professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Manage all Allied Health work integrated learning placements participants mandated online learning.
  5. Support ACT Health and Community Services Directorate and Canberra Health Services clinical and non-clinical placement sites and facilitators with clinical and non-clinical Allied Health placement administration and troubleshooting.
  6. Assist with managing Allied Health clinical and non-clinical student incident management
  7. Manage quality control and improvement measures associated with work integrated learning placement opportunities.
  8. Undertake research, collating, analysing and reporting on placement data.
  9. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills including high level interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Allied Health roles, and the courses and training programs that progress to Allied Health positions and careers.
  • Experience in health education with an understanding of clinical environments, professional practice and student placement issues.
  • Demonstrated project management and change management skills including the ability to meet deliverables within set timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, prioritise and problem solve with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in quality improvement activities, including collation and analysis of data, report writing and sound computer skills.

Qualifications

Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Allied Health discipline and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or discipline governing body.

Experience

Specific experience include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a public hospital or health setting.
  • Experience in education.

  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
  • Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.
