Position overview
Canberra Health Services (CHS) is responsible for leading the insourcing (a transition from a contractor to in-house delivery) of cleaning services for the Canberra Hospital campus and Community Health Care Facilities from 1 October 2026. It is also leading the transition to insourcing of cleaning services and food services at the North Canberra Hospital and Clare Holland House from 1 October 2027.
The Administration Support Officer provides administrative support to the Insourcing Transition Taskforce, assisting with administration process in relation to project activities and general office functions. The role focuses on high-volume administrative processing, maintaining records, using collected data to create evidence-based records and the accurate and timely handling of documentation and data management.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Provide administrative support to the Insourcing Transition Taskforce.
- Support high-volume recruitment processes, including preparing documentation, coordinating interviews and managing candidate communications.
- Work effectively in a team environment with the ability to work independently organising workloads with the initiative to plan, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Monitor the designated insourcing email inbox and workflow responses and provide any follow up action in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining accurate tracking registers and spreadsheets for workforce transition activities.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience
Specific qualifications and experience include, but is not limited to, the following.
Essential
- Experience working in an administrative role within a government or similar organisation.
Desirable
- Sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office product including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of Excel, Teams, tracking systems and SharePoint would also be beneficial.
- Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
- Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework and all other related frameworks.

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates, and contingencies.
