Position overview

This position assists the Division of Medicine Outpatient Departments with general reception duties, in addition to the reporting and data entry requirements of the Department.

Under the direction of the Office Manager, you will assist with front desk duties, booking and scheduling of appointments and procedures, data entry and distribution of results and provide general office support as required.

Outpatient Services (Ambulatory Care) includes all health services provided without the need for admission to hospital. A wide range of services are offered in Medicine Ambulatory Care settings including assessment and follow up appointments which allow clients to better manage acute and chronic conditions while reducing their reliance on hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

Under limited direction of the Office Manager and Administration Manager you will perform booking and scheduling duties for the unit. You will:

  1. Provide Reception services including answering telephone enquiries, liaising with patients, internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Under general direction, provide high level customer service to patients presenting to the Service.
  3. Assist in the administration of patient management including, but not limited to receiving, bookings, and rescheduling.
  4. Ensure official records are maintained in accordance with the ACT Territory Records Act 2002 and other relevant policies and procedures. Input information into CHS and outpatient databases using relevant IT systems.
  5. Knowledge of the Medical Benefits Schedule and ability to apply this knowledge into practice.
  6. Support nursing and medical staff and associated administrative duties for patients. Assist with the coordination of all relevant paperwork and internal/external communications required as a component of the patient services within the Unit.
  7. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
